Will I be questioned when I arrive back to the U.S.?
We ask our travellers to tell of their experience passing through border security on their return to the U.S. after visiting Cuba. The comments below are from real travellers who have visited Cuba. Were they asked questions by the immigration official, and if so, which questions? Were they asked to show paperwork? What was the reaction by the immigration official?
When returning to the U.S. you need to have your trip itinerary, travel affidavit, trip diary, and know the name of the license category of your legal trip to Cuba. See more about how to make a legal trip to Cuba

We were asked to show the visa and travel form at departure. Upon arrival however, they did not ask for anything else besides our passports. They did not ask us to fill out the form documenting places we went or things we did. They also did not inspect our luggage.

We were asked why we went to Cuba. After providing the response "Support for the Cuban people", our immigration officer asked what types of support we provided and where we went. We shared the experiences, locations, and then were sent to baggage check. We didn't check our bags, so we did have an immigration officer check our carry-ons upon entry to Miami. They asked if we had tobacco or rum. I'd advise travelers not to purchase cigars to avoid any further questioning or stress.

Entering Miami was smooth, so smooth I almost felt like I missed customs. He looked at my passport and sent me on my way.
