More Advice for Choosing a Cuba Tour
Which Cuba tours are best for Americans?
Ultimate Cuba tours. While all of our tours are an excellent way to comply with OFAC regulations for legal Cuba travel, our Ultimate Cuba tours make an ideal choice because they include a full daily itinerary to meet the conditions of the OFAC Support for the Cuban People (SCP) general license, which requires a “full-time schedule of activities”. We consider these tours “SCP-ready”. Read more about complying with US legal Cuba travel rules
Which Cuba tours are best if you have less than a week?
Havana Weekend- Choose 5- or 4- action-packed days.
Short Stays- These guide and accommodations packages start at 1-2 nights and include roundtrip transfers. You can add extra nights with or without guide.
Day Tours- We offer over 15 different day tours to explore Havana and beyond; you can also customise your own tour or hire a guide for a half-day or full day tour.
Which Cuba tours are best if you don’t want long travel days?
Cuba is the largest island in the Caribbean, and domestic flights are logistically difficult and unreliable, so we use ground transportation to visit provinces outside of Havana. This means multiple journeys of 6-8 hours. If that isn’t for you, here are the best options to avoid long travel days:
Western Cuba Tour- Exploring only the Western region means that travel times are short, the total route from Havana to Viñales is 3 hours, broken up over two days.
Havana Weekend Tour- Stay around Havana except for the last day which includes a full-day road trip to Viñales, round trip it is around 6 hours. Request the 4-day version of this tour to skip the last day.
Combine Short Stays- with short stay packages, you can stay as long as you want in each destination, Havana, Vinales, Varadero, Trinidad
Which Cuba tours are best for solo female travellers?
Check out our women-only departures if you enjoy the camaraderie of fellow adventurous females, and want unique opportunities to connect with local women.
Which Cuba tours are best for birding?
If you are a serious birder, or twitcher, take our 9-day Birdwatching Cuba tour.
Casual birders can take our Birding in Havana tour (available as a custom day tour) or the Classic Cuba style tours which offer plenty of free time for birding sessions.
Which Cuba tours are best for going off the beaten path?
Eastern Cuba is relatively difficult to access, so most cultural tourists don’t usually venture past Trinidad, but our tours make it easy to visit Santiago and the remote town of Baracoa. Take the one-way Cuba Heritage tour (Ultimate Cuba), for a more relaxed pace and more inclusions, or the 15 day Original (Classic Cuba) with fewer inclusions and more flexibility, both of these tours visit Camaguey, Santiago, and Baracoa. Find out what makes these locations special.
Our Active Cuba tour lets you explore Cuba’s pristine nature, and includes a night under the stars camping in the national park. Our Cycling Cuba tour takes you to hidden gems Matanzas and Santa Clara, plus up close and personal with the streets of Cuba.
